Google Plus is the future of Google

As most of my regular readers know by now, I have actively followed, used and continued to promote Google+. Even as most profiles are bereft of any activity- I have continued to promote it as a viable social network for everyone. If you were looking for me to backoff from that position, definitely not. As more and more features are being added to Google+, I am starting to believe in Google+ as the next big iteration of Google. Yes, the search is heading the social way and going to change the ball game- irrevocably. If you think I am not nuts, read on...When Google+ launched, everyone claimed it was Google's attempt at social networking, nevermind the debacles of Orkut and Google Buzz. They said Facebook was a behemoth and Google was an unlikely David in a battle for your friends and data. I disagree. While Google+ is indeed a social network play from Google, as time has progressed, I am starting to believe that it is less of a competitor to Facebook, and more of making all of Google's properties, social.Examine the following actions from Google.1. The +1 button is starting to show up everywhere. Yes, the Facebook Like button is ubiquitous but given the importance of appearing in Google search, expect more and more people to integrate the "+1" button to their website.2. Revamping Google Reader to support Google+.3. Redoing the Google bar on top of all Google properties to align closely with Google+. Telling is the location of "Youname +" at the start of the ribbon.4. The complete marriage of Android with Google+. Given that every Android phone needs a Google id, it makes sense to use G+ as the common thread that links every Google product that is being used by a consumer.5. Moving Youtube into G+ and integrating G+ videos of user into their Youtube experience.6. Starting to derive search result ranking from G+ activities.7. Adding new features almost exclusively into G+ thereby making it your Google hub.8. Adding Google Pages for business. This was a long awaited move to provide businesses with their own Google page. This serves both parties well. Every business now has a formal google presence which helps their search results. Google gets to index extremely relevant information about businesses and their products from information they provide directly on a Google property.9. Real time information in data within G+ is Google's version of twitter and will continue to evolve into something more prominent. As time progresses, the alignment of everything Google will be around Google+. I dont see that day far away where a G+ id is a requirement to do things on Google. The G+ will become the future Google profile. While Wave didnt really catch on, I could see google emails and G+ co-existing in the future on a reimagined UI.Search results will start depending more and more on G+ results. Algorithms will (if not already) start including information from G+. Page was right when he realigned the organization around their social offering- G+. They see the writing on the wall. Social search will soon power much of regular search and Google is scrambling to get the data it needs to be relevent with its results. Facebook has troves of data which it allows Bing to mine partially and uses it to offer targeted ads. Google would love this more than anything else and is doing everything in its power to get similar data without building another Facebook clone. The remaking of Google search as we know it has begun and the transformation will be complete in a few years. The Google homepage will probably not change. They have something too good to let go there. But everything else you see, experience and get out of Google properties will be driven off G+. I certainly believe that this is where Google is headed with Google+. Sure, we can talk about how many G+ users Google is adding every month and how much it pales in comparison to Facebook. Google+ will never replace Facebook as the personal social network. It will though, build and enhance its own social network to suit and support its core business- advertising.Google+ is here to stay. Welcome to the new Google.
